Our annual display at the biggest City Centre Classic Car Show round here was our best yet.
We had tons of awesome MOCs and classic car models plus plenty of activities for the kids. Was a great get together for members as well as a fantastic free day out for the people of Sheffield. Heres looking forward to next year.
Our latest event, Sheffield Brickfest 2017 happened yesterday at Meadowhead School.
We had a great time in a great venue with a great crowd. We had just short of a thousand visitors through the day who all had an awesome time.
We raised enough money from the door to donate £1600 to our hosts, Meadowhead School, and a further £410 from the tombola and donations to give to our favourite charity, Fairy Bricks.
To say this was a hurriedly organised event due a last minute change of venue I'm very proud of what the LUG achieved.
Final LUGmeet before our summer show and it was cracker!
Great turnout of members plus a newbie, Hi Kate, meant we had a full cafe.
Some nice MOCs on show, new game to try, last minute plans arranged for the show and a nice raffle to round the day of raising a few more quid for our next fairy bricks donation.
So the LEGO displays we organised for the BlockCon event in Sheffield yesterday went down a treat with the public.
There were about a thousand people through the doors on the day and they all seemed pretty happy with the awesome LEGO creations and activities on offer.
We SLUGgers had a great time bringing our LEGO to show and even had time to doa bit of Fairy Bricks fundraising, raising a few hundred quid on the day. Thanks Sheffield!
Here are a few pics from the day taken by my good lady wife!
So we were at the BIG show today helping out Fairy Bricks raising money on the tombola. Also did a bit of catching up with friends and checking out some of the displays.
The Sheffield LUG has been raising money this year, via events and raffles at our monthly meets, for a donation to a local cause.
Being a LEGO User Group our charity of choice is Fairy Bricks whose mission is 'Brightening the lives of sick children through LEGO'.
Bluebell Wood is a local children's hospice close to the hearts of all people in and around the Sheffield City Region and so we decided our Fairy Bricks donation would be to them. We thought it might take all year to raise the money but because of both the generosity of our members and their fund raising zeal we were able to secure an £800 donation of new LEGO sets within 7 months!
We've already started our next round of fund raising which is going to be for something special at Sheffield's Children's Hospital some time in 2017.
We put on a fantastic display of cars and car related MOCs at this show in Sheffield today.
Unfortunately i left it to Finn to take photos and he went off and snapped all the awesome real cars so we only have a couple of the LEGO!
Had a great time and raised a few quid for our Fairy Bricks pot with a Tombola.
