Here are the members of our Committee and a little about them.
CHAIR Craig Brough
I am a LEGO collector and builder.
I run my own business and I have previously been employed in management roles.
I joined SLUG a few years ago , SLUG was my first LUG and I attend most of the local meets as I live in Sheffield.
I have previously helped with various things and now I feel I will be able to help take the LUG forward and get more involved in helping the LUG grow.
VICE-CHAIR Simon Blackburn
I've been a member of SLUG since it started and consider myself an active participant of the Northern English LEGO show circuit. As most of you will know I have a history of ambitious build displays and have recently set up the SLUG Big Build Brigade. Outside of the Lego world I'm a Senior Electrical Engineer and a volunteer Beaver Scout leader. I believe my experience from 52 years of general life, including 10 years of historical re-enactment and 15 years of scouting as well 35 years in the construction industry will be of great benefit to the LUG. i will use this experience to ensure that the LUG remains a friendly and inclusive group.
SECRETARY Kate Harvey
I find Sheffield LUG to be one of the friendliest and most supportive groups in the LEGO community and am keen to get more involved. I am organised to the point of being a bit of a control freak so am confident that I will carry out duties in a timely and orderly manner. My day job is a Speech and Language therapist in the NHS, which involves managing a large caseload of children so I feel that I have skills that could be transferable to this role.
AMBASSADOR Stephen Scrivens
As Ambassador I will engage with other LUGs, communities and the LEGO Group to build on our existing relationships whilst being a role model for the LUG. I have already started plans for many multi-LUG activities so watch this space!
TREASURER Kevin Hyatt
As a founding member of Sheffield LUG I have been involved with the organisation from day one and will continue to make sure the LUG funds itself.
I will work to ensure that we continue to offer free membership, free supplies and support to our members because taking down financial barriers that stop people being able to enjoy the LEGO System of Play is a project that I feel passionate about.
